Bangladesh NutriStar Nutrition Innovation Challenge

Dhaka Road Show Event

The Bangladesh Nutristar: Nutrition Innovation Challenge was organized by the SUN Business Network, which is co-convened by GAIN and WFP ran Dhaka Roadshow event in association with LightCastle Partners. Over 50 enterprises and SMEs attended the event at Daffodil International University who showed interest to participate in the competition to win a chance to go to Singapore and USD 2,500 seed money.
The roadshow included a panel discussion on food safety and nutrition security with panelists - Ms. Colleen O'Connor, Nutrition Officer of World Food Program, Mr. Subrata Kumar Kundu, Co-founder & CEO of Bhalo Social Enterprise, Mr. Mustafizur Khan, Partner of IDLC Venture Capital; and Mr. Zia Ashraf, Co-founder & COO of Chaldal.com.

Jashore-Khulna Road Show Event

The Bangladesh Nutristar: Nutrition Innovation Challenge was organized by the SUN Business Network, which is co-convened by GAIN and WFP ran Jessore-Khulna Roadshow event in association with LightCastle Partners. Over 80+ entrepreneurs and enterprises showed interest to participate in the competition to win a chance to go to Singapore and USD 2,500 seed money.
Kbd. Dr. Asit Baran Mandal, Junior Consultant of SACP, DAE gave the keynote speech on Food Value Chain: The Riddle of Food Safety & Security. The program was facilitated by Syed Muntasir Redwan, National Coordinator of SUN Business Network, and Consultants from LightCastle Partners.

Rangpur Road Show Event

The Bangladesh Nutristar: Nutrition Innovation Challenge was organized by the SUN Business Network, which is co-convened by GAIN and WFP ran Rangpur Roadshow event in association with LightCastle Partners. The competition to win a trip to Singapore and USD 2,500 in seed money attracted more than 50 microbusiness owners.
On the topic of Food Value Chain: Solving the Field to Fork Riddle, Md. Shahinur Islam, Program Manager for the Syngenta Foundation, delivered the keynote address. The workshop was run by Omar Farhan Khan, a business consultant with LightCastle Partners, and Syed Muntasir Redwan, the national coordinator of SUN Business Network.

Bootcamp

LightCastle Partners facilitated a 2-day bootcamp of Nutrition Innovation Challenge was organized by the SUN Business Network, which is co-convened by GAIN and WFP at Hotel Bengal Blueberry, on 1st and 2nd March 2020.
The objective of this Bootcamp was to provide knowledge and a detailed understanding of nutrition, business model canvas, financial modeling and pitching to the top 10 teams and prepare them for the final pitch competition. Along with trainers from LightCastle Partners; Colleen O'Connor, Nutrition Officer, World Food Program; Syed Muntasir Ridwan, National Coordinator, SUN Business Network; Habibur Rahman, Nutrition Consultant, UNICEF; Tazul Islam, Investment Lead - Venture Capital, BD Venture; Dr. Sabiha Sultana, Technical Specialist, Knowledge Leadership, GAIN; Sharmin Kawser, Information and Planning Officer, GAIN; joined as mentors throughout the Bootcamp.

Grand Finale

Great Finale to the Bangladesh NutriStar: Nutrition Innovation Challenge co-convened by Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and World Food Programme. The top three teams were Feed Me, Khamar-e and SACO.

The Journey

Bangladesh NutriStar Nutrition Innovation Challenge was organized by SUN Business Network and co-convened by Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and World Food Programme. The top three teams from the competition received seed capital worth USD 6,000, while the winner, Feed Me, will represent Bangladesh in the Global SUN Pitch competition, which will host winning teams from 20 other countries.
